HI, I’m KATRINA
Come fill your day with a little more sol at Arte & Sol

ALL ABOUT ME

I’ve always been a big creator, it’s my safe space, and a favourite way to boost endorphins and switch off from the daily hustle. From beaded bracelets while listening to cassette tapes in the 90s to making fruit bowls out of clay during recess time- safe to say I’m still obsessed!

Art is also a space that’s really helped me to take chances, problem solve and just slow down in this crazy world. Want a more mindful and creative lifestyle? Move some goopy paint around a canvas. Feeling anxious and a bit edgy? Go for a walk and make a nature mandala. It works! Every. Single. Time.

I’m very in love with Kununurra- spending most of my childhood and many of my adult years exploring the waterfalls, the culture, and meeting the good, clever and funny people who always seem to be drawn here.

One thing we really do lack in the East Kimberley is the access to services. As a teacher and long-term resident I’ve seen firsthand how our incredible and diverse community lacks wellness and creative services. And just because we live in a remote part of the world doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have every opportunity that the city mice do! So here I am - and Arte & Sol was born.

My creative journey has taken me from art as a passion and hobby as a kid, to a visual arts degree, to primary teacher, to specialist art teacher and now studying Creative Therapy at university and doing on-line therapeutic art sessions for adults across the country with The Sage Society.

There is nothing more joyful than the surprise of creating something new and beautiful that just sings and fills your soul with sunshine. Come fill your day with a little more sol with me at Arte & Sol!

Why I started
ARTE & SOL AND WHY IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME

THE ARTE & SOL VISION

Arte & Sol has been in the dreamworks for quite some time. Making a difference in our amazing community by offering intimate creative and wellness sessions without the noise and distractions. Just dopamine and freedom.

Our little Picasso's classes aren't driven by assessments or curriculum, and our art wellness isn't invasive and focussed on clinical assessment, it's artist led and wonderfully cathartic and cup-filling.
